History of MMC

Originally, the Markham Medical Centre was started by Dr. Jim Scott and Dr. Jack White in the late 1950s . Hospital privileges were at Scarborough Centenary where Dr. White was Chief of Medical Staff. Dr. Scott retired in 1982 and Dr. Alison Vandenberg joined up the next year in 1983. Dr. Michael Nowak arrived the following year. For over thirty years, the practice was on Main Street Markham just north of the train tracks, but with the construction of Markham Stouffville Hospital, the clinic made the move to Ashgrove Medical Centre.
