Dear Family Practice Patients,

Please be courteous to our staff who are trying their best to assist you. Our doctors leave a few same day appointment slots, however if those slots are full and your issue is urgent, then we request you call after 4PM to secure an urgent care appointment. Urgent care is available 5-8PM from Monday to Thursdays and Saturdays from 9AM-Noon. While you may not see your own family doctor, you will see a doctor belonging to our Family Health Organization (FHO). As a FHO, we work together and are able to share records, whereas walk-in clinics do not provide that continuity of care. If you anticipate requiring a lot of walk-in care, please discuss this with your physician. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms but have tested negative for COVID on a rapid test, you may book an in-person appointment in our clinic.

Thank you!

Important Updates

Updated November 15th, 2023

Annual Physicals 7/8

Overall, the timing of your doctor visits should be linked to your actual health needs- rather than an arbitrary date set for an actual check-up. As a group we are focusing on the periodic health visit. This appointment replaces the physical, and is an opportunity to address an individual’s risks based on medical history and lifestyle. A focused physical exam based on risk profile, age, sex and health history will be done.

“The evidence doesn’t actually show that going in once a year for the average person leads to better health outcomes,” says Dr. Joshua Tepper, CEO of Health Quality Ontario, a provincial agency with a mandate to improve the health-care system.

Grade 7/8 Immunizations

Starting in May 2022, York Region Public Health community immunization clinics will be restarting for immunizations against Hepatitis B, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Meningococcal ACYW-135. Book an appointment for catch-up immunizations.

Masks Still Required in Medical Offices

While Ontario lifted the mask mandate in most public spaces on March 21st 2022, healthcare settings including Markham Medical Centre will still require masking. We appreciate your support in keeping our patients and staff safe.

Monday Mornings

We experience higher that normal call volumes on Monday mornings. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to call later in the day for non urgent issues. Thank you!

Block Fee Letters

All family practice patients should have received a package regarding optional annual block fees. If you have not received this by mail, please call and let us know.
